The crime of Failure by a Sexual Offender to Comply with Registration Requirements is a Third Degree Felony that is punishable by 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

This crime occurs when a:

  1. Person is a sexual offender or has agreed or stipulated that he has been convicted as a sex offender.
  2. Person had a place of residence in a County of Florida.
  3. Person knowingly failed to report in person to a driver license office of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle when his/her driver’s license was subject to renewal, within 48 hours of change of residence, within 48 hours of change in name. OR
  4. Person knowingly failed to report in person to the appropriate Sheriff’s office within 48 hours of vacating their residence and failing to establish another residence or failed to report that he/she remained at the residence after reporting he/she was vacating the residence. OR
  5. Person reported to the appropriate Sheriff’s office or a driver license office of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle and knowingly failed to provide office with the required information from the statute charged.
