Randall Holcombe, the assistant director of administrative service under corrupt former Sheriff Charlie Morris, should know in about a month whether he will receive a new trial.

Swiatek said his strongest argument remains that his client never should have been tried at the same time for both grand theft and racketeering.

“All of that other stuff, whether he was helping Barbara Morris out with inmate labor or whatever, was not reflective of the grand theft charge,” Swiatek said. “If this motion is to be won, that’s where it will be won.”
